The Belgian Beer and Chocolates Rally

13-15th April 2001

In 2001 I was having a bit of a gap year from committee duties, although I was still doing things in the background like maintaining the website and such and early in the year Andy N. who was events at that time tasked me with organising an easter weekend in Belgium.

I began to research on the internet with the idea of visiting a brewery and a chocolate shop to give some interest to the weekend. Whilst looking for belgian breweries one name stood out from the rest, "Brasserie de Silly". Ah the Silly Brewery I thought and proceeded to email the company requesting the possibility of a visit. On the mention of a group of Harley bikers wanting to see belgian beer being made I received a welcome reply from one of the managers who stated that he rode a glide and would be more than willing to entertain us.

The Belgian Beer and Chocolates Rally was born and Ettiene (see him in first frame of album far right) became a very pleasant host who met us at the Belgian border and led us to the Silly village then took us on a visit around his Silly brewery. This was followed by a visit to a chocolate making shop and introducing us to the Brussels Chapter then he excelled the whole event by organising a piss up in his own Silly brewery! A visit to Brussels and a meet with his alternative bike club was also achieved within our stay. What a memorable weekend this was.

Although not actually named as a "Dave's Dodgy Tour," Jane and I were instrumental in putting a lot of it together for Andy, so take a look at the album and see what fun we had.
